Auf Deutschlands größter Insel werden Gäste in Forschungsprojekte vom World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) und dem Naturschutzbund (NABU) einbezogen.
Seit Juni können Gäste der AVR-Ferienanlagen mit Ferngläsern und Zählbögen die Umwelt im Biosphärenreservat Südost-Rügen beobachten und ihre Befunde notieren. Beispielsweise, ob seltene Wasservögel wieder an Rügens Küste heimisch geworden sind.
Begleitet werden die so genannten Urlaubs-Ranger von Mitgliedern der Naturschutzorganisationen. Regelmäßig sticht der „Seedüwel“ von Seedorf aus in See. „So schnell hat die SeeBG noch nie einen Kutter abgenommen“, freut sich Georg Heissler, Geschäftsführer der AVR in Göhren. Zusammen mit Skipper Mario Schmitt und Maschinist Uwe Eichmann hat er innerhalb von drei Wochen alle Auflagen für ein „Sonderfahrzeug Wasser des Personenverkehrs“ umgesetzt. Anfang Juni ging es mit dem Kutter auf Probefahrt in die Having. „Das wäre vor kurzem noch absolut undenkbar gewesen“, so Nationalparkchef Michael Weigelt. „Ich gehe davon aus, dass wir den Sommer über Ergebnisse der Vogelpopulation und sonstiger Ergebnisse bekommen, die nie realisierbar gewesen wären“, ist sich Jochen Lamp vom WWF sicher.
Die einzigartige Kombination von Aktivurlaub und Naturschutz bringt Inselgästen die Natur rund um Rügen näher und liefert außerdem wichtige Daten für die Umweltorganisationen.
